The Biggest Compliment From The Littlest Person

Today while I was busy tying the shoelaces of one of my most mischievous little boys he looked at me and said flatly but sincerely, "You're a good teacher." I looked up at him, trying to hide my surprise. "Well, you're a good student." I said. He smiled and then walked off.

I've never heard that from any of my students before. Let alone one that I often have to discipline. I'd say today was a pretty good day.

Then later on I found the same little boy's shoe in the corner of the room. "Jake." I said. "Why do you keep taking off your shoe?" "Because..." He said. "Today I have a wooden leg. I don't need a shoe." "Oh. Okay. Well that makes sense." I said to him and left it at that.

Oh my, how sweet. I can probably guess one of the biggest reasons why he thinks you're a good teacher, simply said, "You care."

Love you girl and the wooden leg comment, oh my... lol! Wait until I post something my youngest said today... it will have to wait for now but I know you will appreciate it loving kids as you do :)

And one of the best things is that you know they are sincere at that age. My babies couldn't say the words, but when they would toddle over to hug me or get excited to see me when they got dropped off or would seek me out for comfort when they were sick or tired or hurt, that was one of the best feelings.

Susan- You are right. I do care. I can honesty say, I have grown to love that kid and all of them. I will really miss them this summer. Oh and you're right that wooden leg statement was just precious to me. =)

Dawn- Yes. At this age, they most certainly are honest, for better or for worse. And I know what you mean, I love it when they all coming running around my legs. It's the cutest thing. I'm like the human security blanket!

The fun imaginations for little ones. Of course he has a wooden leg. Too funny. You are a good teacher to give him room to express his imagination.
