Me: "Stop making fun of me."
Lauren: "Then write about me on your blog and I won't make fun of you."
Are you happy now, Missy??
(Oh yes, and she refers to me as "Bean-Head". Seriously, I get no respect.)

"Bean head"? I don't get it. Tell your sister that its not funny, and that I'm in your corner. Only I am allowed to make fun of you, Colleen.
Dan- AHahahahahha....Let me explain, I am one of those people that everyone likes to nick-name. Actually, I don't mind it at all. One of the most frequently used is...Beanie (As in Colleenie-Beanie)and Bean and she somehow started calling me Bean-Head.
You forgot Tanglefoot, Calduchi, My little Petunia, Tootsi,K'leen, Coeleen, Colleen Malloy (as in the song your aunt Alice used to sing to you)and I can't think of the rest!!! Loveable by any name!!
MOTHER!-(shaking my fist in the air!!) I will get you for this!
For all of you, I have a little story to tell,....
When Colleen was a toddler and we lived in Singapore, we went one sunday afternoon to the zoo. Now, the Singapore zoo was one of the most forward thinking zoos at the time.
Apparently, in the morning, before the day got too hot, all the baby animals were taken for a walk out of their enclosures. Well, as we ourselves were walking and I was holding Colleen by the hand, unbeknownst to me one of the keepers had caught up to us with his brown bear cub in tow( a cute rolly polly little guy).
I suddenly looked down to find that my happy blue eyed baby had been SHARING the ice cream bar that we had purchased from the push cart!!!! The two of them had been having soo much fun... one lick for you, one for me!!! Who would ever have imagined such a thing!! It is an adorable memory that I keep and play back when I want to chuckle.
Tell your sister to come and talk to me first.
I'm (very) used to this sort of insurrection!!
Tootsi!
Awwww Tootsi ;) New nickname for me to use on Colleen...I mean Tootsi!
David- knowing that your kids like to roast you as much as my family likes to roast me, I take comfort in this fact.
Dan- I am in fact Tootsi to certain family members (sigh). You are a rascal! Does this have anything to do with my giving props to your step-dad? Heh Heh...
This is a wonderful post full of playful jibes and smiles. I love the original post, and how it has developed in the comments. Your mother's memories of you with the bear cub are so sweet. Only a child could be so innocent with an animal and develop that bond (well, adults can but it is rare).
Thanks for sharing and letting us join in. Tootsie. *giggle*
