"I'm lovin' it"

You know that feeling of having nothing to do, but sit by a pool with some lemonade, walk around in your swimsuit all day, eat juicy watermelon for lunch and take a delicious afternoon nap in the sun on the grass?
Well, I've been doing that all day. I'm on vacation, at my parents house, in New Joisey. (Er, New Jersey)
Jersey gets a bad rap. I can understand why. When you fly in all you see is the Turnpike, with the smokestacks and junk car lots, or the Garden State Parkway traffic. It's ugly, I know. That's why they call it the "Armpit of America". That and the fact it's tucked in under New York City and so they give us all their stink. But, I think the rest is quite lovely. Especially where my parents live, down by the beach...and they have a pool and it's hot and sunny and I'm lovin' it. Not like McDonald's "I'm lovin it." (Yuck, I think of Supersize Me, the movie.) But hearing crickets and seeing fireflies at night "I'm lovin it." Sitting around drinking wine and eating Chinese food that I don't have to pay for with my parents "I'm lovin' it." Sleeping in a big fluffy bed with the softest white sheets "I'm lovin it." You get the picture.

So I'm here for a week. I don't know how much writing I'll do. Maybe a lot, maybe a little. But this little plot of land, with the pool, the garden, and the tomato trellis outside my window, has got to be one of my most favorite places, because it describes a word that we all relate to in hopefully the warmest of ways and that word...is home.

Oh and one more thing. Is it disgusting that I shared my purple popsicle with my dog? 'Cause I just did. (And yes, I'm one of those kinds of dog people.)

Hi Colleen,

Have fun in New Joisey. While you're chilling out there in the heat, we're chilling out in Oz - literally.

I had ice on the car this morning!

Take care. Enjoy your vacation.

Keep smiling

David

I've been to Joisey several times. It wasn't the setting that bugged me, it was the people snapping at me all over the place! Sheesh, lighten up will ya!

Hope you're enjoying your time by the pool.

Far too cold to swim here in Melbourne. Ice on the car Tuesday and Wednesday!

Wake up, Colleen, everybody’s wiggling
Wake up, Colleen, we really need you
Wake up, Colleen, you’re missing all the fun now
Wake up, Colleen, before the days through

What’s that sound?, I can hear somebody snoring
What’s that sound?, its not Murray or Greg
Anthony’s awake, so let’s have another guess now
Oh my goodness, it must be Colleen

Wake up, Colleen, everybody’s wiggling
Wake up, Colleen, we really need you
Wake up, Colleen, you’re missing all the fun now
Wake up, Colleen, before the days through

Dorothy the dinosaur is munching on some roses
Wags the Dog is digging up bones
Henry the Octopus is dancing round in circles
Wake up Colleen; we need you for the show.
